POLLEN OF WORDS
1998 - 2006 - 2015
Nylon floss, words on plastic film
approx 160 x room height x 130 cm
A cluster of words typed on pieces of plastic foil is attached to a maze of threads that spans between ceiling and floor. The words stem from everyday conversations as well as from prose and poems by writers such as Rose Ausländer, Erich Fried and Max Frisch; they are key words to me. Removed from their original context, they interact with each other and with the mind of the viewer. Pollen of Words transformed each time it was installed, as the words changed, and reconfigured the composition.
Immer von neuem sterben
und auferstehn
Die Fremde meine Heimat
Unbekannte meine Geschwister
Ich bin eine Tote
Die lebt
und das Leben liebt
Rose Ausländer (1901 - 1988)
In English:
Dying time after time
and rising again
Foreign parts my home
Strangers my brothers and sisters
I died
and am alive
in love with life
